Posted June 11th @ 11 June, 2010

Christmas memories are some of our fondest, most heartwarming ones. So of course we want to preserve them in our scrapbook albums. However, when the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon us, we may forget to take particular photos or save certain memorabilia. To help you remember, below is a list of Christmas memories and keepsakes you'll want to capture in your scrapbook album. Cutting Down the Tree For those who get their trees from a tree farm, cutting down the tree is a favorite ...

Fit The Fishing Rod To The Fishing Task

Posted June 8th @ 8 June, 2010

See yourself standing on the bank of a swiftly moving stream in the shade of a gnarled willow, your fishing rod bent beneath the weight of an unusually large catch. Whether or not you land that fish depends on the decisions you made at the shop -- primarily the type of rod. The ABCs Of Fishing Rods Your rod is the most important tool you will use while fishing, and you can chose from a wide range of types, styles and lengths. A fishing rod is a shaft of graphite, fiberglass, steel, wood ...

CANOODLING WITH A CANUCK IN A CANOE?

Posted June 6th @ 6 June, 2010

Copyright The Quipping Queen 2005. CANOODLING WITH A CANUCK IN A CANOE? --Or, Welcome to Climax, Saskatchewan! Canada is a pretty straight-laced, peaceful place, where seldom is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day, except for eleven and a half months of the year affectionately called "winter", (when everyone goes inside for a break from the bugs, barking dogs, or far too many exposed bosoms and buttocks -- euphemistically referred to as "bare essentials"). So, one ...

Winged Fighters

Posted June 5th @ 5 June, 2010

This is a story or news article of an epic battle between two fierce commanders of the sky, the man-made airplane and the parakeet. Would man conquer nature or would he be overcome by it? For years, man has fought against nature, struggling through great natural disasters. Earthquakes have ravaged cities and countries. The sea, rivers, or lakes have risen over their borders to consume, unhindered, any creations of mankind. Volcanoes unstoppable powers have historically buried entire villages in ...

Model Airplane

Posted June 4th @ 4 June, 2010

Is there any end to the fun you can have with a model airplane. I have asked myself that question many times, and I always come up with the same answer - Maybe. I mean, think about it. Think of all of the things that you can do with a model airplane. First of all, if you get a model airplane kit, then you get to put it all together, and if that is not fun, then I do not know what is. I always feel so smart when I am putting together a model anything. I feel like I am inventing the flying ...

Model Hobbies

Posted June 3rd @ 3 June, 2010

Model hobbies are things that children or adults can do which can be educational and have a lasting impact. One model that I had when I was younger was the skeleton of a dinosaur. I had to put the skeleton together myself. I also had model cars and model airplanes. The model cars and planes were not self assembled though, we purchased them already completed. After building my dinosaur, I played with it like a regular toy, making it viciously attack and kill the other toys. Later my dinosaur ...

JEEPERS CREEPERS IT'S JULY!

Posted May 30th @ 30 May, 2010

Copyright The Quipping Queen 2005. JEEPERS CREAPERS IT'S JULY! -- Odd Events & Activities Calendar for July 2005 -- Compiled by: Lady Beatrice Blitterlees & Lord Earl Craboon July is one of the most popular jocund, jocose, and jocular months of the year. In a nutshell, this means one can be jestful, merry, playful and witty without fear of becoming a public spectacle. After all, it's summertime. And in some places like Canada, this 60-day season comes but once a year ... along with oodles ...

A Key In Hand Is Worth A Thousand On My Desk

Posted May 29th @ 29 May, 2010

A key fault I have, and I can only talk about one fault at a time, is the tendency to get busy. I often find myself chasing my own tail. What I will do with it when I catch it is beyond my understanding. However, this notwithstanding, I fall into the trap time after time of getting too busy for my own good. The faster I try to go; the less I seem to accomplish. This past week proved no exception; in fact, everything came to a head on Monday. I had my To-Do-List all prioritized and ...

TWITS, TWERPS & TWIZZLE STICKS

Posted May 26th @ 26 May, 2010

Copyright Theolonius McTavish 2005. TWITS, TWERPS & TWIZZLE STICKS -- Or, there's more to being dumb than you think! -- North America, (and some might even go so far as to include a country due north of the 49th parallel known as "The Land of Ice & Snow"), has a quixotic fascination with, if not a fondness for, simple-minded souls. A quick check of my favorite Internet search engine, 'Google', reveals no less than 1,990,000 pages devoted to 'dummies'. In second place, we have a mere ...

Pilot Training Begins on the Ground

Posted May 25th @ 25 May, 2010

All flight training begins on the ground. The worst place to learn a new skill is in an airplane. It can be very difficult to grasp new concepts in the air without reviewing them first on the ground. In the plane, training in the cockpit can have other environmental issues such as cold (or hot), noisy, and bumpy. You want to get up in the air as soon as possible and as frequently as possible. Don't waste time at the airport studying things you could have done at home. Get your studying ...
